Hello, my name is Beth.  I have been fundraising for a new Etac Balder F280 wheelchair.  I am a 27 year old woman living in Twyford, Berkshire.  I had a Etac Balder F280 wheelchair that I used on a daily basis to support my daily living needs.  It was in urgent need of replacement.  The replacement wheelchair has now been purchased, thank you so much to everyone who contributed towards the fundraising!  Any further donations received will be used to put towards repairs or the next wheelchair, required in 2018/19.

I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which affects skeletal muscles and means that I am required to use an electric wheelchair to move around.  In particular, I need to use the wheelchair to go to work and to participate in a full and varied social life.

I have just become a parent for the first time and I would like to be able to enjoy motherhood to the full, my replacement wheelchair will allow me to be able to achieve this.

My wheelchairs last for around 5 years before wearing out.  At around 5 years of age they are often in need of repair and it becomes likely that a significant repair would be uneconomical to carry out after any warranty period has expired.  I am now ineligible for support from many wheelchair charities as they cater for children and adults below the age of 26.
